“Lake Erie Gulls- Cleveland Area Rarities and Spotting Locations”

Lake Erie and Cleveland, in particular, are well known for the incredible numbers of wintering gulls and an impressive list of rarities. We will learn about many of these sightings through Chuck’s photos as well as the best places in northeast Ohio to find and watch gulls during the winter months.

Chuck has been watching birds since his first bird walk at the age of fourteen and learning about gulls for the last twenty or so years. Though he doesn’t consider himself an expert, because there is so much to learn, he does pretty well. As an avid photographer Chuck enjoys chronicling his sightings to share with both the birding community as well as the community at large.

Chuck Slusarczyk Jr. discovered, in January 2021, the oldest known living Ring-billed Gull on record — 28 years and 9 months old — banded in 1992 at Tommy Thompson Park, Toronto, Ontario
